Kansas City, MO (SportsNetwork.com) – Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex
Smith suffered a right shoulder injury during Sunday’s game against St. Louis,
but managed to finish the contest and coach Andy Reid doesn’t expect any
problems going forward.
“Alex has a shoulder sprain,” said Reid on Monday. “It happened in the game
and he was able to go through the game, but he’s a bit sore today and should
be fine.”
Reid said the injury occurred before halftime of the 34-7 win and might be no
worse than a bruise.
“It was tender (today),” Reid added. “We’ll just see. He’s upbeat about it. We
did all the precautionary things, looking at it. It just needs a little time
to get the soreness out of there.”
Smith had a strong game Sunday, completing 24-of-28 passes for 226 yards
without an interception or a touchdown.
Reid added that reserve linebacker Josh Martin and defensive back Jamell
Fleming each suffered hamstring injuries on Sunday.
