Betting NFL Futures

Betting NFL futures is an exciting way to stay interested in the season from start to finish. A future bet is one where the bettor is wagering on how teams will finish the season. There are odds on division titles, conference championships, and a Super Bowl victory, among others.

Regular-Season Records

Before the season begins, an exciting futures bet is on the over/under for regular-season victories by each team. Baltimore and Kansas City had the highest total victory total this year at 11.5.

The Chiefs carried odds for the over of -145 with Baltimore at -115, also for the over. The -115 means that the player needs to bet $115 to win $100.

The under odds were at +115, meaning a $100 bet wins $115 for Kansas City and -115 for the Ravens. The oddsmakers were clearly more confident in the Chiefs reaching at least 12 wins than they were with the Ravens. Both teams stand at 5-1 after Week 6, on pace for 13 wins on the season.

Jacksonville had the lowest total at 4.5, followed by Washington, Carolina and Cincinnati at 5.5. Washington’s odds of +100 for over and -130 for under showed the least confidence in getting to six wins. All of those teams except Carolina have only managed one win apiece, on pace to finish the season with three.

Playoff Success

Unlike the over/under when betting NFL futures, the odds on where teams will finish the season standings change from week to week. The favorites to win NFC division titles are Dallas, Green Bay, New Orleans and Seattle.

In the AFC, it’s Buffalo, Baltimore, Tennessee and Kansas City. By far, the biggest favorites are the Chiefs at -800 to capture the AFC West.

Kansas City is also the favorite to win the AFC championship and advance to the Super Bowl. The odds are much different than for the division at just +220 to get to Tampa. Baltimore is at +300, with the oddsmakers predicting a loss to the Chiefs in the AFC title game.

The two undefeated teams in the AFC, Pittsburgh and Tennessee, both 5-0, are at +750 and +1000, respectively. The Steelers have been dominant to start the season while the Titans have been winning nail biters. Tennessee’s narrow margins of victory are definitely a factor in those odds, despite not yet suffering a loss. There are so many things to consider when betting football.

Super Bowl Odds

There are still three undefeated teams, but the one-loss Chiefs are the favorites to repeat as Super Bowl champs. They have odds of +450, again followed closely by the Ravens with odds of +550. Seattle is the top NFC team, with the 5-0 Seahawks in third at +750.

The overlooked Steelers are down the list at +1300 after a dominating beatdown of the Cleveland Browns. I can’t argue with the Chiefs as the favorites to defend.

Still, a $10 wager on the Steelers would net a cool $130. As the season progresses, this might be the last chance at this kind of odds on Roethlisberger and company.
