Bills acquire QB Cassel from Vikings

Orchard Park, NY ( – The Buffalo Bills acquired quarterback
Matt Cassel from the Minnesota Vikings on Tuesday, completing a trade that was
announced last week but couldn’t be made official until the start of the new
league year.

Buffalo said only that it acquired Cassel and an undisclosed draft pick from
the Vikings in exchange for undisclosed draft picks.

The busy Bills also announced the acquisition of former NFL rushing champion
LeSean McCoy from the Philadelphia Eagles after the new league year began at 4
p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Cassel, 32, started the Vikings’ first three games last season before breaking
several bones in his left foot against the New Orleans Saints on Sept. 21. He
was placed on injured reserve three days later.

He has completed 59 percent of his passes for 15,727 yards with 96 touchdowns
and 70 interceptions in his 10-year NFL career. He has started 71 games for
New England, Kansas City and Minnesota since 2008.
