Bills awaken in 2nd half to beat Browns

Orchard Park, NY ( – Kyle Orton threw a touchdown pass, Dan
Carpenter kicked four field goals in the fourth quarter and the Buffalo Bills
beat the Cleveland Browns 26-10 on Sunday.

Orton finished 17-of-31 for 190 yards with two interceptions.

Fred Jackson had 70 yards on 21 carries for the Bills (7-5), who returned to
Ralph Wilson Stadium after last Sunday’s scheduled home game was played a day
later in Detroit after more than six feet of snow fell on the southern reaches
of the Buffalo area.

Cleveland rookie Johnny Manziel scored his first NFL rushing touchdown after
replacing starter Brian Hoyer, who was benched in the fourth quarter following
his second interception and fifth in the last two weeks.

The Browns (7-5) remained tied for second in the crowded AFC North. Baltimore
and Pittsburgh also lost Sunday, leaving all three teams 1 1/2 games behind
Cincinnati. The Bengals won to improve to 8-3-1.

Buffalo scored two touchdowns in a 10-second span after being held scoreless
for the first 36:56.

Orton and Robert Woods hooked up for 34 yards to convert a 4th-and-3 from the
Cleveland 37. Buffalo went up 7-3 when Orton completed a pass to Chris Hogan
in the flat.

On the first play of the ensuing Cleveland drive, Jerry Hughes stripped
Terrance West, recovered the fumble and returned it 18 yards to the end zone.

Carpenter drilled a 49-yard field goal and then hit a 34-yarder after
Da’Norris Searcy picked off Hoyer a second time.

Manziel then entered the game and engineered an eight-play, 80-yard drive that
he capped with a 10-yard touchdown scramble. On the next Cleveland drive,
Manziel threw incomplete on 4th-and-6 from his own 18.

Carpenter made two more attempts from 34 and 35 yards on the last two Buffalo

Billy Cundiff kicked a 22-yard field goal to open the scoring after a West
fumble into the end zone was overturned on a review.

Jim Leonhard intercepted an Orton pass he tipped in the end zone early in the
second quarter, but the turnover resulted in no points when Cundiff missed a
37-yard try wide right.

Following a Hoyer interception, Carpenter had a 53-yard field goal attempt
blocked by Joe Haden as the first half expired.
