Cullowhee, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – If Western Carolina looks a lot like
Chattanooga in its rebuilding process in the Southern Conference, the
Catamounts must still the close the gap.
Chattanooga took sole possession of first place by romping in a matchup of
SoCon co-leaders, 51-0 on Saturday.
The 14th-ranked Mcs (6-3, 5-0) dominated in every way while posting its third
straight win and handing upstart WCU (6-3, 4-1) its first loss in the
conference.
Keon Williams rans for a pair of first-quarter touchdowns and finished with 194
yards on 19 carries. Quarterback Jacob Huesman added three total touchdowns
(two passing, one rushing) as the Mocs posted a 512-102 advantage in offensive
yards. They led 38-0 at halftime.
If the Mocs defeat Wofford (5-3, 3-1) at home next Saturday, they will secure
the SoCon’s automatic bid to the FCS playoffs and be postseason-bound for the
first time since 1984.
