Cedar City, UT (SportsNetwork.com) – Eastern Washington went West … and to
the end zone, as usual.
His second-ranked Eagles playing without quarterback Vernon Adams for the first
time since he was lost to a broken right foot, redshirt sophomore Jordan West
had a strong debut with three touchdown passes in a 42-30 Big Sky victory at
Southern Utah on Saturday.
West completed 20-of-27 pass attempts for 288 yards, connecting on two
touchdowns to Kendrick Bourne and another one to Zach Wimberly. He also threw
one interception.
Eastern Washington (6-1, 3-0), the two-time defending Big Sky champion under
coach Beau Baldwin, used terrific offensive balance to post an 11-minute, 6-
second edge in time of possession.
Mario Brown (22 carries, 134 yards, one touchdown) and Jalen Moore (22 carries,
133 yards, two touchdowns) spearheaded a 280-yard ground attack. The Eagles
gained 568 offensive yards.
Adams is expected to be sidelined for 3-6 weeks.
