(SportsNetwork.com) – Former Tennessee Titans quarterback Jake Locker says he
is retiring from the NFL at the age of 26.
Locker, the eighth overall draft pick in the 2011 draft, battled injuries
during his four seasons in Tennessee. In 30 games, he threw 27 touchdown
passes and 22 interceptions.
“I no longer have the burning desire necessary to play the game for a living,”
he said in a statement released Tuesday to media outlets.
“I realize this decision is surprising to many, but I know in my heart that it
is the right decision and I look forward to spending more time with my family
and pursuing other interests.”
Locker, who starred at the University of Washington, was also a standout
baseball player. He was drafted in the 10th round of the 2009 MLB draft by the
Angels, but chose to play football.
