Athens, GA (SportsNetwork.com) – Georgia running back Todd Gurley suffered a
torn knee ligament in Saturday’s game against Auburn, the school confirmed on
Sunday.
Gurley will need surgery to fix the torn anterior cruciate ligament in his
left knee, although a date for the procedure has yet to be determined.
The junior looked sharp in his return from a four-game suspension before he
was hurt later in the fourth quarter of the 34-7 win.
He rushed 29 times for 138 yards and a touchdown against Auburn and has gained
911 yards on 123 carries with nine scores in six games this season for the No.
9 Bulldogs.
Gurley was suspended after accepting more than $3,000 in cash from individuals
for autographed memorabilia over a two-year period.
He was a top Heisman Trophy candidate after the first five games this season
and a projected first-round pick.
