Allen Park, MI (SportsNetwork.com) – The Detroit Lions re-signed kicker Matt
Prater to a three-year contract on Friday.
The Lions originally inked Prater during the 2014 season after he was released
by the Denver Broncos following a four-game suspension for violating the
league’s substance-abuse policy.
Detroit was in dire need of a kicker after Nate Freese and Alex Henery
struggled during the first five games of the season.
An eight-year veteran, Prater played in 11 games last season with the Lions,
connecting on 21-of-26 field goal attempts and all 21 point-after tries. For
his career, he has hit 81.5 percent of his field goal attempts and 99.3
percent of his PATs.
