New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) – Dallas Cowboys running back DeMarco Murray
was named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Month for September on Thursday.
Murray led the league with 534 rushing yards and five touchdowns runs as the
Cowboys won three of their first four games.
Detroit linebacker DeAndre Levy earned NFC Defensive Player of the Month
honors. He had a tremendous first quarter of the season for the 3-1 Lions,
recording 38 tackles, one interception and a safety.
Seattle punter Jon Ryan was selected as the NFC’s top special teams performer
for the opening month of the season. Ryan placed seven of his 12 punts inside
the 20-yard line and averaged 48.3 yards per punt for the 2-1 Seahawks.
