Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – Cody Kessler eluded several tacklers and
got rid of the football a split-second before Oregon State’s Jaswha James
converged on his throwing arm.
Darreus Rogers hauled in the pass at the 1-yard line prior to crossing the
goal line on the final play of the first half.
Rogers caught a 48-yard Hail Mary pass and No. 18 Southern California routed
Oregon State, 35-10, on Saturday night.
The Trojans ripped off 28 unanswered points after trailing 10-7 early in the
second quarter to rebound from their loss to Boston College two weeks ago. USC
had a bye last week.
Kessler finished 24-of-32 for 261 yards and two touchdowns and Javorius Allen
carried the ball 20 times for 115 yards and a score for USC (3-1, 2-0 Pac-12),
which outgained the Beavers, 461-181.
Sean Mannion was 15-of-32 for 123 yards with two interceptions for the Beavers
(3-1, 0-1), who haven’t won at the Coliseum since 1960.
The Beavers recorded just 63 yards after Trevor Romaine’s 38-yard field goal
gave Oregon State its 10-7 lead early in the second.
Justin Davis hauled in a wheel route for a 16-yard score midway through the
second quarter to put the Trojans on top for good and Leon McQuay intercepted
Mannion in the end zone on the Beavers’ ensuing drive.
Rogers’ Hail Mary catch gave USC a 21-10 advantage heading into the break.
Following a scoreless third quarter, Allen scampered 17 yards up the middle
for a touchdown to make it 28-10 early in the fourth. Davis’ 21-yard TD run
capped the scoring with 5:02 left.
Su’a Cravens returned a Mannion interception 31 yards for a score to open the
scoring at the 5:11 mark of the first, but Ryan Murphy returned the ensuing
kickoff 97 yards for a touchdown to tie the game.
