Evanston, IL (SportsNetwork.com) – Northwestern wide receiver Miles Shuler was
taken off the field on a stretcher after running head-first into a tackler
during Saturday’s game against Nebraska.
Shuler gave the home crowd a thumbs-up as he was being wheeled off and the
school said he was alert and responsive and being taken to a hospital as a
precautionary measure.
The junior put his head down and drove into Nebraska safety Corey Cooper’s
shoulder at the end of a 6-yard reception late in the third quarter.
He remained on the field for several minutes surrounded by medical personnel
and players and his facemask was cut off before he was put on the stretcher.
