Oklahoma’s Mixon reaches plea deal

Norman, OK (SportsNetwork.com) – Joe Mixon’s brush with the law has come full
circle, as the Oklahoma Sooners freshman has avoided trial after being charged
with an “act resulting in gross injury” three months ago.

Mixon, 18, allegedly punched a 20-year-old female student and broke four bones
in her face at a Norman restaurant on July 25.

The highly-touted running back had been suspended for the season, but remained
a student at the university while being excluded from all team activities.

According to the Oklahoman Mixon has entered an Alford plea on Thursday,
which asserts his innocence but still comes with consequences.

Mixon was given a one-year deferred sentence, 100 hours of community service
behavioral counseling and a $200 fine, per the paper.
