Panthers sign RB Ogbonnaya

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) – The Carolina Panthers signed five-year
veteran Chris Ogbonnaya to a depleted running back corps on Monday.

They waived running back Tauren Poole.

Ogbonnaya, 28, spent the past three seasons with the Cleveland Browns, gaining
604 yards on 130 carries and starting 12 of 42 games. He has also played for
the Rams and Texans.

He rushed for 240 yards in 16 games last season with seven starts and caught
48 passes for 343 yards and two touchdowns.

Panthers running backs Jonathan Stewart (knee) and Fozzy Whittaker (thigh)
were both inactive for Sunday’s game against Baltimore and DeAngelo Williams
left the game in the second quarter with a foot injury.

Williams and fourth-stringer Darrin Reaves gained only 60 total yards on 23
carries in the 38-10 loss.

The Panthers are home against Chicago on Sunday.
