Alameda, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Oakland Raiders on Wednesday
officially announced the signings of running back Roy Helu and linebacker
No details were released by the club on either contract. On Tuesday, ESPN.com
reported Helu and the Raiders have agreed upon a two-year, $4 million deal,
while NFL.com reported Smith reached an undisclosed agreement with the team.
Helu, 26, rushed 40 times for 216 yards and a touchdown last season and added
two receiving scores in 14 games.
The Nebraska product has totaled 255 carries for 1,132 yards and seven
touchdowns in 48 games over four seasons with the Redskins.
Smith, the Super Bowl XLVIII MVP in 2013, registered 38 tackles and two forced
fumbles in 14 games (five starts) with the Seahawks last season.
In four seasons with Seattle, the 25-year-old has racked up 130 tackles, two
interceptions and four forced fumbles in 57 games.
