Redskins LB Orakpo done for year with torn pec

Ashburn, VA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Washington Redskins announced on
Monday that linebacker Brian Orakpo will be lost for the remainder of the
season with a torn pectoral muscle.

“He’s gonna have surgery and he is out for the season. It’s a blow. He’s been
playing very good against the run and disruptive in the passing game.” said
Washington head coach Jay Gruden.

Orakpo left Sunday’s 19-17 win over the Tennessee Titans in the fourth quarter
and did not return with a right pectoral injury. He underwent an MRI earlier
in the day which confirmed the extent of the damage.

Orakpo’s 2012 season was also cut short due to injury, that one a left
pectoral tear suffered early in the campaign.

Gruden said rookie Stanford product Trent Murphy will step up into the
starting role.

“Trent’s gotta step up his game. He’s gotta be better at the point of attack.
He’s going to have to grow up very fast,” Gruden added.
