Ashburn, VA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Washington Redskins placed linebacker
Brian Orakpo on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday.
The move came one day after Redskins coach Jay Gruden confirmed Orakpo would
be lost for the season with a torn right pectoral muscle.
Orakpo left Sunday’s 19-17 win over the Tennessee Titans in the fourth quarter
and did not return. He underwent an MRI on Monday which confirmed the extent
of the damage.
Orakpo’s 2012 season was cut short two games in due to a left pectoral tear.
To fill the roster spot, Washington signed linebacker Everette Brown. Brown
was signed by the club in late July but was cut in late August. He has
appeared in 38 career games for the Panthers, Chargers and Cowboys.
