Renton, WA (SportsNetwork.com) – The Seattle Seahawks will have to complete
their Super Bowl title defense without the services of defensive tackle
Brandon Mebane.
Mebane was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, while tight end RaShaun Allen
was signed from the Minnesota Vikings’ practice squad to fill the roster slot.
On Monday, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll only said Mebane suffered a
“really legit hamstring pull” in Sunday’s win over the Giants and would be out
“a while.”
A league source confirmed to the Seattle Times earlier Tuesday that Mebane is,
in fact, sidelined with a torn hamstring.
The 6-foot-1, 311-pounder compiled 20 tackles over nine games this season,
leading Seattle’s run defense which has allowed the lowest opponent average at
3.2 yards per carry.
