Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) – The San Francisco 49ers placed
linebacker Patrick Willis on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday.
The seven-time Pro Bowler will undergo surgery on his strained left big toe,
according to multiple reports.
Willis injured the toe in a win at St. Louis on Oct. 13 and had missed the
49ers’ last three games. He registered 49 tackles and one interception in six
games this season.
The 49ers signed running back Alfonso Smith to fill the spot on the active
roster.
