Texans extend Mallett, Tarpinian

Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) – The Houston Texans re-signed quarterback
Ryan Mallett and linebacker Jeff Tarpinian on Tuesday.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Mallett’s deal is two years and worth $7
million.

Mallett appeared in three games, starting twice, last season in his first year
with the Texans. He completed 54.7 percent of his passes for 400 yards with
two touchdowns and two interceptions.

Over his career, Mallett has appeared in seven games, completing 53.2 percent
of his passes for 417 yards with two scores and three picks for the Patriots
and Texans.

Tarpinian totaled 13 tackles and one forced fumble in 14 games last season,
his second with Houston.
