Vandy QB quits football over injuries, med school

Nashville, TN (SportsNetwork.com) – Vanderbilt quarterback Patton Robinette
said Friday he is walking away from football to enter medical school.

Robinette missed six games due to injuries last season, including a concussion
he suffered against South Carolina on Sept. 20, which he called “a factor” in
his decision to give up football.

The redshirt junior began the 2014 season as Vanderbilt’s starting quarterback
and was expected to compete for the role again this year. He completed 89 of
155 passes for 1,096 yards and seven touchdowns with eight interceptions in 16
games for the Commodores, including five starts.

Robinette will enter Vanderbilt’s medical school this summer and plans to
study orthopedics.
